Llanhilleth & District Bowls Club was founded in 1991 after a group of would be members led by the late R W Broom campaigned for the re opening of the green after many years of it lying untouched.
The club was formed playing only friendlies against local sides for the first year, before joining the Gwent Bowls League (GBL) which is usually reserved for clubs second strings in 1992. After two seasons in the GBL the club was then entered into Monmouthshire Bowling League Division 5 in 1994.
Through the hard work, commitment and dedication of it's members the club has been transformed from the days of changing in a caravan, through the building of the club house in 1995. The club was then extended to include toilets and changing facilities in **** and even today improvments are still being made with new double glazed windows and doors and central heating being fitted in 2008 and plans for revamped changing facilities to include new lockers and benches in the pipeline.
On the green the club has experienced many ups and downs including promotions, demotions and a cup final. It's fair to say that there is never a dull season at Llanhilleth something which keeps the members coming back year after year.
The aim of the club is to bulid on the excellent work that has gone before and elevate the club to new levels both on and off the green.
